Truro Awarded $320,000 Solar Grant for Central School Carport
The Healey-Driscoll Administration has awarded Truro $320,000 through the Mass Clean Energy Center's Green School Works program to build a solar canopy carport above the upper parking lot at Truro Central School, the single largest item out of Town Hall in this cycle.
TOWN HALL
The $320,000 Green School Works grant will fund construction of a solar canopy carport at Truro Central School, adding a renewable energy installation to the campus while creating covered parking. The award comes from the Healey-Driscoll Administration's statewide effort to bring clean energy infrastructure to public school buildings.
Drivers on Route 6 have a chance to weigh in on a coming road project: MassDOT is holding a public information meeting on June 16 covering a planned resurfacing of Route 6 through Truro and Wellfleet. The project is intended to improve pavement conditions, extend the life of the existing road structure, and increase safety along the corridor.
Several near-term deadlines round out this week's Town Hall news. The Planning Board is recruiting applicants for a vacancy running through the 2027 Annual Town Election — the deadline to apply is June 17. The Treasurer/Collector's office is also hiring an Office Assistant who will greet the public, handle administrative and clerical duties, and support record keeping; applications close June 18. Town offices and the Transfer Station will be closed June 19 in observance of Juneteenth, with the Transfer Station reopening June 20. Looking a bit further out, the town will host "Straight from the Source: A Water Forum" on June 24, a public session designed to share current water data and take community questions.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Truro Public Library's Anne H. Brock Room is currently displaying "M-Ocean," a poetry exhibit by Jody Shyllberg. The library has also restocked its seed library for the season, inviting residents to stop in and pick up seeds to get their gardens started.
