Sandwich Transfer Station Permits Must Be Renewed Before June 30 Deadline

No town press releases broke in the past 24 hours, but several standing items from the town website demand resident attention this week: Transfer Station permits expire at month's end, ongoing chip-seal roadwork continues on multiple streets, and planning is in high gear for the America 250 weeklong celebration that opens less than two weeks away.

**TOWN HALL**

Residents who use the Sandwich Transfer Station have two weeks to act: current 2025–2026 permits expire June 30, 2026, and renewals for the 2026–2027 permit year are now open. Renewed permits will be valid July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. The town is encouraging residents to renew promptly to avoid any gap in access.

Chip-seal surface treatment work that began June 8 is still active on a number of town roadways. Roads remain open to traffic, but the town is asking drivers to expect delays and use alternate routes where possible.

The town's updated Charter — approved earlier this year by the Massachusetts Legislature and signed by the Governor — remains available for residents to review on the town website at sandwichmass.org.

With hurricane season now underway (it began June 1), the town is reminding coastal residents to revisit their household preparedness plans before a storm develops.

Looking ahead on the civic calendar: the Planning Board meets Tuesday, June 16; the Select Board and Conservation Commission both convene Wednesday, June 17; and the Glass Town Cultural District Steering Committee also meets June 17.

**COMMUNITY & ARTS**

The town's America 250 weeklong celebration kicks off Saturday, June 27, with a Moonlighters Concert and Fireworks Display, followed June 28 by "Voices of 1776" at Hoxie House and the Grist Mill, and a Public Art Unveiling and Reception on June 30. The full schedule runs through July 4.

Before that, the 1st Annual Cape Cod Vintage Market is set for Saturday, June 20. And on Tuesday, June 23, author Ted Reinstein presents "Greetings from Breed's Hill: Fact & Folklore on America's 250th" — an author talk timed to the national semiquincentennial.
