Brick Kiln Road Closes for Sewer Work Starting June 22, Running Through July

FALMOUTH — Drivers in the Brick Kiln Road corridor should start planning alternate routes now: a new sewer-project construction phase will shut down a stretch of the road during daytime hours for more than five weeks beginning June 22.

TOWN HALL

Starting Monday, June 22, Brick Kiln Road will be closed from Sandwich Road to a quarter-mile west of Oxbow Road. The restriction runs weekdays only, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and is scheduled to lift July 27, according to a town News Flash posted Friday afternoon. The closure is part of the ongoing sewer infrastructure project; evenings and weekends are unaffected. Residents who regularly use that corridor during commuting hours should identify alternate routes before the work begins.

Separately, the town website notes that Falmouth is co-sponsoring two Juneteenth events. No further details were posted as of Friday afternoon; Juneteenth falls on Friday, June 19.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Falmouth Public Library system opens a busy stretch of programming this weekend. On Saturday, June 13, the Main Library hosts "Road to Revolution: The Occupation of Boston" as an all-day offering, and the Nip & Nap Society Postpartum Support Group meets at 10 a.m. The East Falmouth Branch runs a Scavenger Hunt and "It's Game Time!" both beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.

The week ahead brings additional options across all three branches. The Main Library holds a Dementia & Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group at 11 a.m. and the Next Chapter Book Club at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 15. East Falmouth offers Maker Mondays — Paper Cup Phones at 10 a.m. that day, while the North Falmouth Branch hosts Block Party: LEGO in the Library at 4 p.m. Later in the week, East Falmouth adds Stories, Songs and Instruments on Tuesday, June 16 at 10 a.m., and a Stay & Make Drop-In Craft on Wednesday, June 17 at 9:30 a.m.
