Bourne Opens Applications for Town Meeting Moderator Vacancy, Sets July 9 Deadline

BOURNE — The Town of Bourne is recruiting applicants to fill a vacant Town Meeting Moderator seat, with a July 9 deadline for Letters of Interest — while families can mark their calendars for the Bourne Community Splash Pad's season debut this Friday, June 19, the same day town offices go dark for Juneteenth.

TOWN HALL

The Town of Bourne posted a vacancy notice for Town Meeting Moderator, the elected officer who presides over town meeting sessions. The position must be filled by appointment until the next Annual Election, and the town is accepting Letters of Interest through July 9, 2026. Residents interested in the role should submit directly to the town.

All non-emergency town offices and services will be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of the Juneteenth federal holiday. The town noted there will be no impact to scheduled curbside rubbish and recycling collection that day.

The Bourne Community Splash Pad at Buzzards Bay Park also makes its seasonal return on June 19, offering families interactive water features throughout the summer. Seniors ages 60 and older still have time to weigh in on town planning: the Community Needs Assessment Survey remains open through July 1.

SCHOOLS

The school year is winding down with a full slate of events. Bourne Intermediate School holds Grade 4 Field Day on Tuesday, June 16, and Grade 5 Field Day on Wednesday, June 17. Tuesday evening, the Bourne Middle School Spring Choral Concert runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday, June 17, carries a note on the district calendar as the 180th Day of School — the original scheduled last day, now moved — alongside an EL Celebration from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and a Peek into Preschool session from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. The BMS Band Concert closes out the week's school events Thursday, June 18, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. All Bourne Public Schools are closed Friday, June 19, for Juneteenth.
