Select Board Unanimously Backs Carlton Hall Design, Eyes Busy Holiday Weekend

DATELINE: DENNIS

The Select Board has unanimously approved moving forward with a proposed design for Carlton Hall, the town announced this week, as Dennis officials also posted a fresh wastewater project update and rolled out public safety preparations for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday weekend.

TOWN HALL

The Select Board's unanimous vote to advance the Carlton Hall design marks a concrete step forward for that facility project. No additional design details were included in the town's announcement, but the unanimous vote signals broad board consensus heading into summer.

Separately, the town posted its latest update on the ongoing wastewater project on June 25. Residents following that long-running infrastructure effort can find current details on the town's website.

With the holiday weekend approaching, the Dennis Police Department and town officials are coordinating public safety measures, traffic changes, and increased enforcement at Dennis beaches. A separate announcement flagged Fourth of July weekend specifics for beach visitors, including parking considerations and plover protection areas covered in the town's 2026 beaches information video.

National Grid customers in Dennis who have not yet scheduled a gas meter exchange are urged to do so promptly; the utility may temporarily interrupt service to customers who miss the appointment window. Site work is also continuing at the corner of Bob Crowell and Old Bass River Roads.

Looking slightly further ahead, the Select Board has two calendar items on Tuesday, June 30: committee interviews and appointments, followed by a regular Select Board meeting. The Assembly of Delegates Standing Committee on Finance meets Monday, June 29.
