Truro Honors Two Educators With Over 60 Combined Years at Central School

DATELINE — TRURO

The town this week recognized two educators whose combined service to Truro Central School stretches across more than 60 years, while simultaneously launching a public input process that will set open space and recreation priorities for the next decade — and alerting drivers to construction delays beginning Monday on Pole Dike Road.

TOWN HALL

Nancy Winslow and Alice Rieselbach were honored by the town Friday for careers that collectively span more than six decades at Truro Central School. The announcement described both educators as having shaped generations of students through dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the school community.

Residents who want a say in how Truro manages its parks, conservation land, and recreational facilities over the next 10 years have an opening: the town is updating its Open Space and Recreation Plan and is actively soliciting public input. Residents can attend a community forum, email ideas or questions to pio@truro-ma.gov, or visit www.truro-ma.gov/osrplan.

Starting the week of June 29, drivers on Pole Dike Road should expect delays. Contractor N&M Excavating will be installing components on a newly placed culvert as part of the Herring River Restoration Project. The road will remain open throughout the work.

The Select Board has also scheduled a hybrid public hearing for July 28 at 5 p.m. to present its Goals and Objectives for fiscal year 2027, review the concluding year's goals, and assess progress against those targets.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Truro Public Library is currently displaying poetry by Jody Shyllberg in an exhibit titled "M-Ocean" in the Anne H. Brock Room. The library is also offering seeds to residents looking to start a garden through its seed library program.

Coming up Tuesday, June 30, the library hosts three events: a Mahjong session, a Children's Community Garden Group meeting, and a program called Swords Through the Ages.
