Select Board Schedules July 28 Hybrid Hearing on FY27 Goals and Priorities
Truro's Select Board has scheduled a hybrid public hearing for late July to set priorities for the coming fiscal year, while the Truro Public Library has a full slate of programming kicking off this Saturday.
TOWN HALL
The Select Board will convene a hybrid public meeting on Tuesday, July 28, at 5 p.m. to present its Goals and Objectives for fiscal year 2027, review the goals set for the concluding year, and assess progress made against them. Residents can attend in person or participate remotely. Details and connection information are posted on the town website at https://www.truro-ma.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=188.
The town also has several ongoing items of note. Short-term rental registration for 2026 is open exclusively online — the $450 permit fee, which includes inspection, can no longer be paid at Town Hall, by mail, or by phone. The Department of Public Works is also recruiting a year-round mechanic; applications and copies of required licenses must be submitted by Monday, August 3, at 3 p.m.
With hurricane season running June through November, the town is encouraging all residents to sign up for ALERTruro, the emergency notification system managed by Truro's Emergency Management Team.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Truro Public Library has a packed Saturday, June 28, on the calendar. The Summer Reading Program kicks off that morning, giving younger readers a chance to sign up and get started. Also on Saturday: tech assistance sessions with Caleb for anyone needing device help, a Bi-Monthly Moon Circle with Donna, and an author talk featuring Robert Kuttner discussing his book "Notes for Next Time."
The library's Anne H. Brock Room currently features an art and poetry exhibit titled "M-Ocean" by Jody Shyllberg. Seed packets are also available through the library's seed-sharing program for residents looking to start or expand a garden.
Looking a bit further out, a Mahjong gathering and a Children's Community Garden Group meeting are both scheduled for Tuesday, June 30.
