Sandwich Launches Weeklong America 250 Celebration Starting June 27

DATELINE: SANDWICH

With the Fourth of July around the corner, Sandwich is gearing up for a week of community events marking America's 250th anniversary, while residents near Kiahs Way should note brief road closures next week for drainage work.

TOWN HALL

Sandwich's weeklong America 250 celebration kicks off Saturday, June 27, and runs through July 4, with family-friendly events designed to honor the nation's history and look to the future. The opening night features a July 4th Moonlighters Concert and Fireworks Display. Additional programming continues through the week, including a "Voices of 1776" living-history program at the Hoxie House and Grist Mill on Sunday, June 28, and a Public Art Unveiling and Reception on Tuesday, June 30.

Alongside the festivities, the Department of Public Works and the Police Department are jointly promoting the "Slow Down – In Our Town" public safety campaign, urging drivers to reduce speeds as summer visitors arrive.

Residents near 57 Kiahs Way should plan ahead: drainage construction is scheduled for June 30 and July 1, closing that section of roadway during work hours. Full access will be restored at the end of each workday.

Two administrative deadlines also fall at month's end. Transfer Station permits for 2025–2026 expire June 30; residents must renew at capecodbeachstickers.com or in person at Town Hall to maintain uninterrupted access for the 2026–2027 permit year. Beach stickers for the 2026 season remain available at the same site or at the Tax Collector's Office.
