Planning Board Applications Close Wednesday; Water Forum Slated for June 24

Residents interested in serving on the Planning Board have until Wednesday, June 17, to submit an application for an open seat, making it the most time-sensitive item out of town hall this week — one day before the town also closes a job posting in the Treasurer's office, and eight days before a public water forum opens the floor on Truro's water supply.

TOWN HALL

The Planning Board has one vacancy: an unexpired term running through the 2027 Annual Town Election. The town is asking interested citizens to apply by end of day Wednesday, June 17. Anyone who wants a hand in shaping land-use decisions in Truro should move quickly.

The town is also accepting applications for an Office Assistant in the Treasurer/Assistant Collector of Taxes department through Thursday, June 18. The role covers front-counter public service, administrative and clerical work, record-keeping, and support for the Town Clerk's office.

Town offices and the Transfer Station will both be closed Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. The Transfer Station reopens Saturday, June 20.

On the roadways, N&M Excavating is working along Bound Brook Island Road between the Transfer Station and Bound Brook Island as part of the Herring River Restoration Project, raising low-lying portions of the pavement. No through traffic is allowed during work hours; detail officers are on site to help drivers and pedestrians get through.

Mark June 24 on the calendar: the town has announced "Straight from the Source: A Water Forum," a public session designed to share current data on Truro's water, answer community questions, and create space for open, informed conversation on the topic.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Truro Public Library's Anne H. Brock Room is currently displaying "M-Ocean," a poetry exhibition by Jody Shyllberg. The library's seed program is also underway for the season — residents can stop in and pick up seeds to start or supplement a home garden.
