Patuisset Beach Closed; Town Seeks New Meeting Moderator

Patuisset Beach is temporarily off-limits for swimmers and water-related activities, the town announced, just as Bourne Public Schools prepares to ring out the 2025-26 school year with an early-release final day on Friday.

TOWN HALL

The town posted a closure notice for Patuisset Beach, barring swimming and water activities until further notice. No cause was specified in the News Flash posting, but residents should check the town's alerts page before heading to the water this week.

Also from town hall: the Town of Bourne is accepting Letters of Interest to fill the vacancy of Town Meeting Moderator through July 9, 2026. Interested residents may submit letters to the town ahead of the next Annual Election, when the seat will be filled through a regular vote.

Bourne is also partnering with UMass Boston on a wide-ranging Community Needs Assessment aimed at residents aged 60 and older. The survey — open from June 1 through July 1 — is available online or by mail, and the town says responses will directly shape future senior programs, policies, and services.

SCHOOLS

Tomorrow, Friday, June 26, is the last day of school for Bourne Public Schools, and it will be an early-release day. Looking ahead, the School Committee has a retreat and meeting scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
