Falmouth Co-Sponsors Two Juneteenth Events, Brick Kiln Road Closure Set June 22

With Juneteenth arriving this Friday, the Town of Falmouth is co-sponsoring two local celebrations of the federal emancipation holiday, and drivers on the Brick Kiln Road corridor should know a five-week stretch of weekday closures begins less than a week away.

TOWN HALL

The Town of Falmouth is co-sponsoring two Juneteenth events to mark the June 19 federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. Details on both events are posted on the town's website at falmouthma.gov.

Starting Monday, June 22, Brick Kiln Road will be closed from Sandwich Road to roughly a quarter-mile west of Oxbow Road, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, through July 27. The closure is part of the town's ongoing sewer project construction. Motorists who use that stretch for a summer commute should map alternate routes now.

Two public meetings land on Thursday, June 18: the Falmouth Retirement System and a ZBA Public Hearing and Open Meeting, both at Town Hall.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Wednesday brings a full slate at the Falmouth Public Library's Main Branch. An all-day program, "Road to Revolution: The Occupation of Boston," anchors the day. That afternoon, Neighborhood Falmouth teams with the library for "Avoiding Scams that Target Seniors" at 1:30 p.m., followed by "Ask a Master Gardener" at 2 p.m. and Art Club at 3:30 p.m. Over at the East Falmouth Branch, a drop-in "Stay & Make" craft session opens Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Thursday brings Library LEGO Time at 3:30 p.m. and Why Knot Knit Nite at 5 p.m., both at East Falmouth.
