Dennis Announces Fourth of July Safety Measures, Traffic Changes for Holiday Weekend

The town and Dennis Police Department are finalizing public safety measures, traffic changes, and increased enforcement for the Fourth of July holiday weekend — the most consequential announcement to land at Town Hall on Thursday.

TOWN HALL

Town officials and the Dennis Police Department posted an update Thursday confirming preparations are underway for a safe, family-friendly Fourth of July weekend. An earlier town announcement from June 15 spelled out the scope: residents and visitors should expect public safety measures, altered traffic patterns, and stepped-up enforcement at Dennis beaches and throughout town during the holiday. Details are posted at the town's official news page (https://www.town.dennis.ma.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=335).

The town also posted its latest update Thursday to the ongoing wastewater project page, where residents can track progress on the long-running infrastructure effort (https://www.town.dennis.ma.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?aid=185).

National Grid customers in Dennis who have not yet scheduled a gas meter exchange are being urged to act quickly. The town's Wednesday advisory made clear the utility may need to temporarily cut off gas service to customers who fail to book an appointment. Residents should contact National Grid directly to schedule.
