Dennis Announces Fourth of July Beach Safety Measures and Increased Enforcement
Town officials have announced a package of public safety measures, traffic changes, and increased enforcement for Fourth of July weekend at Dennis beaches — the clearest sign yet that the town is shifting into full summer-management mode.
TOWN HALL
With Independence Day less than three weeks out, the town is already moving to coordinate holiday crowd control. Officials published details on Fourth of July public safety measures, traffic changes, and stepped-up enforcement at Dennis beaches; the full notice is posted on the town's News Flash page.
Also newly posted: the western portion of the parking lot at West Dennis Beach will be closed on Friday, July 12, due to piping plover nesting activity. Piping plovers are a federally protected shorebird, and their nesting presence routinely triggers seasonal restrictions along Cape Cod beaches. Beachgoers planning a trip that day should expect to use the eastern side of the lot only.
Drivers on the south side of town should allow extra time at the intersection of Bob Crowell Road and Old Bass River Roads, where ongoing site work continues; additional information is posted on the town's website.
The town is also actively seeking resident input on its Local Comprehensive Plan, the long-range blueprint for Dennis's future. An informational video is available on the town website, and residents are invited to share ideas on how they want to see the town grow and change.
