Sandwich America 250 Celebration Kicks Off Saturday With Fireworks Concert
The town's weeklong America's 250th anniversary celebration is now just four days away, with events running June 27 through July 4 and the calendar filling in for what looks like the busiest stretch of the summer.
TOWN HALL
Sandwich has announced a week of family-friendly events to mark America's 250th birthday, opening Saturday, June 27 with a July 4th Moonlighters Concert and fireworks display. The celebration continues Sunday, June 28 with "Voices of 1776" at the Hoxie House and Grist Mill, and a Public Art Unveiling and Reception is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30. The town says the events are designed to reflect on the past while looking ahead to the future.
Also on residents' radar this week: Transfer Station permits expire June 30. Current 2025–2026 permits will not be valid after that date; renewals for the 2026–2027 year are available now and run through June 30, 2027. The town is encouraging residents to renew before the busy holiday week begins.
The town also continued to promote its "Slow Down – In Our Town" public safety campaign, a joint initiative of the Department of Public Works and the Police Department aimed at managing traffic as summer visitors arrive and America 250 events draw crowds to town.
