Patuisset Beach Closed as Marina Redevelopment Hearing Set for Wednesday

Bourne's waterfront is front and center this week: Patuisset Beach is temporarily closed to swimmers, and residents have less than 24 hours to prepare for a public hearing Wednesday evening on the future of Monument Beach Marina.

TOWN HALL

Patuisset Beach is closed until further notice for swimming and all water activities, according to a Notice posted on the town's homepage. No additional detail on the cause was provided in the town's announcement; residents should check the town website or Bourne Alerts for updates before heading out.

On a longer timeline, the town is inviting residents to weigh in Wednesday, June 24, on plans to redevelop Monument Beach Marina. The public hearing begins at 4:30 p.m. at Bourne Middle School. Town officials describe it as an opportunity to share ideas and learn about the redevelopment proposals for the waterfront facility.

Also from Town Hall: the Town of Bourne is accepting Letters of Interest to fill a vacancy for Town Meeting Moderator. The position will be filled on an interim basis until the next Annual Election. The deadline to apply is July 9, 2026.

Seniors ages 60 and older have until July 1 to complete a Community Needs Assessment Survey being conducted by the town. The survey, open since June 1, is designed to gauge the needs of Bourne's older adult population.

SCHOOLS

Bourne High School students have a busy close to the academic year. Student Council speeches and elections are scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, from 9:48 to 10:15 a.m. Underclassmen and Junior Book Awards follow on Thursday, June 25. Friday, June 26 is the last day of school, with an early release.
