Falmouth Sewer Project Adds New Road Closures Through July 27
With the Fourth of July less than two weeks out, Falmouth is juggling summer logistics on multiple fronts: a fresh round of sewer-project road detours took effect this week, storm runoff is pushing beach closures higher across the state, and a local guide to Independence Day fireworks is now out for residents planning the holiday.
TOWN HALL
A previously announced sewer-project construction update has brought new road restrictions to Falmouth neighborhoods this week. Starting June 22, Brick Kiln Road is closed between Sandwich Road and Oxbow Road during weekday working hours. A second closure is set to begin June 29, when Maravista Avenue Extension will be shut between Route 28 and Mattapan Street. Both closures run 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and are scheduled to lift July 27. Residents using those corridors should plan alternate routes for the remainder of the month.
The town's Level 2 Significant Drought designation, updated June 17, remains in effect. The town's spring lawn-care message urges residents to water wisely given current conditions.
Looking ahead on the civic calendar: the Conservation Commission holds a public hearing Wednesday, June 24, and the Zoning Board of Appeals convenes for a public hearing and open meeting Thursday, June 25.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Falmouth Public Library's three branches have a busy week ahead. On Wednesday, June 24, the Main branch hosts "Road to Revolution: The Occupation of Boston" (all day), a Felt Board Play for Littles at 10:30 a.m., a Falmouth Genealogical Society meeting at 10:30 a.m., and an Ask a Master Gardener session at 2 p.m., followed by Art Club at 3:30 p.m. The East Falmouth branch offers a Stay & Make Drop-In Craft at 9:30 a.m. and the Fact & Fiction Book Club at 10 a.m. that same day.
Later in the week, the East Falmouth branch runs a Scavenger Hunt and It's Game Time both starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 27. The North Falmouth branch holds its own Scavenger Hunt Thursday, June 26 at 2 p.m., and a Block Party: LEGO in the Library on June 29 at 4 p.m.
